Katho Upaniṣad
॥अणोरणीयान्महतो महीयान्॥
Kaṭho Upaniṣad, or the Kāṭhaka Upaniṣad, is one of the 10 most celebrated Upaniṣads in the Indian tradition. It forms a part of the Krishna Yajur Veda. This Upaniṣad elaborates on the quintessential Brahma Tattva through a story. The story leads to a conversation between the Mṛtyu devata, Yama and a young boy, Nachiketa. The Upaniṣad consists of 2 parts, or Vallis. The first Valli focuses on Yama testing Nachiketa’s eligibility, steadfastness, and resolve to gain the ultimate Jnāna. The second Valli teaches Ātma Vidyā.
